Hubert is the original London Chessboxer – the first man through the door when the club opened in April 2008. Since then he has competed three times, winning his debut bout against Mexico’s Hector Gomez, and following that up with an impressive stoppage against Bob “The Red Kite” Innes. Last year he suffered an unlucky and unexpected defeat against London Chessboxing founder, Tim Woolgar. Hubert has been studying chess since he started chessboxing and has improved dramnatically in the last two years. He works for Amnesty International in Amsterdam as a project co-ordinator and his ambition is to become chessboxing world champion. Little known fact: Hubert studied Marxist Economics at London University and thinks Communism should be give a second chance. He supports Arsenal and Ajax FC.
